Retail News: Sysco To Go will have two locations

As a Toys “R” Us, former Texans wide receiver, Andre Johnson had a yearly tradition of taking needy children on a holiday shopping spree at this location from 2008-2016.

Last week on HHR, we broke the news about a new retail concept, Sysco To Go, being developed by food wholesaler/supplier Sysco. This week, we expand on that a bit with new information. The second Sysco To Go location will be in the former  Toys “R” Us, turned Sprouts at OST & Kirby, which closed in 2023. Unlike the Town & Country location, this second store, near the Astrodome, will serve an area without any warehouse store presence. The T&C location has a Sam’s Club directly across the freeway and a Costco less than two miles away. Next, as the concept takes shape, we can begin to understand what Sysco To Go will be like. As mentioned in the previous post, the store will contain walk-in coolers and more traditional grocery fixtures. However, the warehouse-style racking installed so far seems to point away from the GFS direction, which the building plans provided. Ultimately, we will not know what exactly Sysco is planning until they speak on the matter, and with both locations at the hiring stage, it will likely be sooner rather than later when we figure out what exactly is planned.
