Massive Houston-based wholesaler Sysco is reportedly working on a new concept named Sysco To Go. According to a Reddit post, it will be a “restaurant club”. Construction work has been ongoing for the past few months at the former Town & Country Bed Bath & Beyond. According to the architectural plans linked in the post, this will be a grocery retail operation featuring walk-in coolers and curbside pickup. While its name entails that this will be a wholesale operation, it’s unclear if a membership will be required to shop here. This store will represent Sysco’s entry into direct retail operations, similar to operators like GFS. The concept is a stone’s throw from Sysco’s Corporate HQ and will likely be closely monitored for expansion opportunities. Sysco has not publicly released any information on the new store but has posted job openings online. We will have to wait and see if Chappell Roan will be used in the marketing S-Y-S-C-O, you can shop To Go!
