Closeout retailer Ollies Bargain Outlet plans an expansion in Texas by entering a stalking horse bid for some of 99 Cents Only Stores Texas real estate. The closeout chain entered Texas in 2018 and Houston in 2021. The properties under consideration by Ollie’s include 11 former 99 Cents Only locations across Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, and the Valley, expanding Ollie’s footprint quite a bit. The stores include a mixture of both leased and owned operations. While the deal is far from complete, based on new documents filed in bankruptcy court, it appears that 99 Cents Only is pushing Ollie’s bid forward, along with a smaller but similar claim for other Texas stores made by Dollar Tree.

It’s not guaranteed that Ollie’s will get these properties, but it is likely. This expansion would act on plans Ollie indicated they had all the way back during the Toys R Us Bankruptcy. During that event Ollie’s expressed interest in many former TRU locations, an idea that was never acted upon. The full list of locations under consideration by Ollie’s is as follows:
