The Big Lots bankruptcy continues to add new locations to the closing list, and in the past two weeks, two Houston stores have joined the lineup. The first is 6138 Hwy 6 N, Houston, TX 77084, and the second is at 425 Sawdust Rd Ste A, Spring, TX 77380. With these two new closures, the greater Houston area is now losing 10 Big Lots stores overall, with a possibility of more closings still looming on the horizon. The other stores include Pearland, Tomball, Katy, Baytown, and Galveston, outside city limits, Westheimer and Gessner, Kirby at OST, and FM 1960 at Jones within Houston. While some Big Lots across the country have already completed their going-out-of-business sales and shut down, the Houston stores seem to all still be operating, at least as of the publication of this article. In my observation, the most recently announced stores have already put out seasonal Christmas merchandise but may not make it that long.

It is pretty wild that Big Lots is struggling with the economy being in a slump. Looks the like newcomer to the Houston area (Ollie’s) will have an easier path the success with less Big Lots stores to complete with. Dirt Cheap is another closeout chain that has failed and will close their remaining stores with the Pasadena location being the one here to close.
