Retail News: Round1 Arcade makes progress in two Houston Malls

The Round1 Arcade in Deerbrook Mall is expected to open in the near future.

Japanese-based Round One Corporation has been on an arcade-building spree in American Malls lately, and soon, Humble will join Arlington and Grapevine as the third Texas city to host one of their arcades. The new Round1 locations will be at Deerbrook Mall in Humble and Willowbrook Mall in Houston. The Deerbrook location will be the smaller of the two, taking up the space formerly occupied by Palais Royal in that mall. The Willowbrook location will take up far more space, using just over half of the former Sears. The chain combines arcade games and sports like bowling, basketball, and tennis under one roof. While specifics have not been released, it’s safe to assume that the Deerbrook location will not feature an extensive sports section due to its smaller size. Construction on the Willowbrook Mall Round1 began earlier this year, and Deerbook Mall is said to be wrapping up sometime soon, although a grand opening has not been set. In addition to arcade games and sports, Round1 will also sell food featuring typical American fare and some Japanese items and may serve alcohol.

    1. At Deerbrook Mall, forgot to specify which location. It is an arcade only location and doesn’t have the bowling and Lazer tag games that other locations have. They will be open daily from 10am to 2am.
