Local grocer Arlan’s Market has closed its store located at 12460 Hwy 6, Santa Fe, TX 77510 in the Santa Fe Junction Shopping Center. This store originally opened in 1984 as Big Chief Foods. Arlan purchased this location in 2011 and was operating as the only full-service supermarket in Santa Fe, competing against a small footprint HEB. In late 2023, Ames Arlan sold his grocery store chain to Rafael Ortega, owner of La Michoacan, El Ahorro, and many related companies. According to a Facebook post made by the management of the shopping center, the closing of Arlan’s came as a bit of a surprise. In an area short on grocery stores, the demolition of a long-vacant store next to HEB has prompted rumors that the grocer may build a new store on the plot. However, no moves have been made to suggest that HEB has any concrete plans to do so.

Latest rumor for Arlans that a regional grocery chain will open there in about 8 weeks, only thing i heard was that the particular chain has a store in Texas City, My guess it might be Foodarama but we will wait and see
