The Target located on Eldirge Parkway between Westheimer and Richmond Ave is currently closed after a fire was reportedly lit in the store earlier this week. According to KPRC’s Gage Goulding, Harris County Constables found signs of forced entry into the store late Sunday evening, after Target had closed for the night. Presumably in response to a burglar alarm, the police found evidence of forced entry at the front of the store. They entered the building and found the intruder using charcoal and lighter fluid to start a fire in the department store. As of Monday morning, the store was temporarily closed, with crews working to mitigate the smoke and fire damage from the incident. It is not yet clear how long the store will remain closed. The store opened in 2008 as a Super Target, but lost that status during a 2020 remodel, which reduced the expanded grocery selection.
